“The community of artists at Chicago Flea MKT manifests inspiration. Chicago Flea MKT allows me to incorporate my passions into innovation, while inspiring others through my lifestyle & fashion blog.”
A little over a two months ago, I attended an Entrepreneur Conference at Northwestern, where I was able to hear from the CEOs of match.com, Adaptly, Groupon, along with many other creative entrepreneurs! At the Entrepreneur conference, I learned “Entrepreneurship is a way of life.”
Everything about me screams entrepreneur. I have always been one to diversify my interests, and I am constantly brainstorming, jotting down notes, and dreaming. This has been great, however, I have been unable to take the next steps. I constantly blog about my desire to do what I love. I feel that the world has the tendency to become a dark place because people do not seek to find what they love. Instead, they repress their passions, and neglect their creativity.
Entrepreneurship is a journey.
A journey of ups and downs.
Each day is a stepping stone- forward or back, in order to become closer to your goal.
I am inspired by entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship is creation.
I am thankful to have become a part of a creative journey of entrepreneurship. I am lucky enough to have found Nathan Terrazzas, mastermind behind Chicago Flea MKT, and partner with him in attempts to make his dream a reality. This market we came together to honor our community of artists to gather around entrepreneurship.
I am a Market Maker for the Chicago Flea MKT! In other words, I am on the production team for Chicago Flea. We successfully launched on May 5th, and have hosted events on June 2nd and July 7th at the Pritzker Elementary school in Wicker Park. We aim to bring some of the Midwest’s most talented artisans, all in one place, all in open air. Chicago Flea attempts to create a spin on the traditional flea market, and really create an upscale market experience- similar to a live “etsy.”
Previously, I ran all social media, contact the press, manage photography, develop relationships with customers and venders, innovate our processes, evaluate analytics, and relish in the artistic community. Now we have brought on an amazing artist / fashionista Sam Vittori to assist with the social media, so I can devote more time to PR.
Inside my backpack, I have two entrepreneur magazines, my laptop, markers, and my inspiration notebook. Whenever I inspire anyone, or I am inspired, I make note in my book about any thoughts, words, entrepreneurial ideas I have, and I create fashion collages. My love for art drives my creative motivation and restless state of mind.
I’m a college kid... but an entrepreneur: While everyone spends time on Facebook, I run my company’s face book. While everyone follows fashion bloggers and admires them, I spend my time learning to become one. While everyone spends time at summer jobs, I create my own jobs and work from anywhere in the world.
I do all the same things as normal college kids, however, I will FOREVER be a college kid. My fun doesn’t end in four years, life will be my playground for a lifetime.
My semester abroad will not end there. I will travel the world, experience, cultures and innovate society, as I innovate.
Basically, I see entrepreneurship, as a way to personalize your life, capitalize on your passions, and pursue your goals all at once.
I can’t wait for the next Chicago Flea MKT on August 4.
This market is a special market- you’ll have to wait and see why.
