Behind each outfit is a story.
Each piece is representative of one’s journey: mind, body, and soul.
Fashion is a subconscious form of expression.
Each article of clothing is a symbol of one’s journey: past, present, and future.
Before I embarked upon my journey to LA, I explored the streets of “Sweet Home Chicago,” in my bright, printed Flying Tomato harlem pants through the Gold Coast and Wicker Park. The patterns were a sign of the change that I was about to enter- the maze ahead.
A new city, a new pattern, and a new way of life.
THE PATH: The Free People Abbey Road Sunglasses are a sign of my free spirit, heart, and love for Free People. The company’s energy is unmatched, and one of my favorite designers. The Free People Wicker Park Store, has a special spot in my heart. The girls always inspire me to piece together new outfits, play with the festival hair chalk, and photograph me for my blog. The Vince Camuto Hadie sandals, are a present I received as a finalist in the Vince Camuto Interview Style Fest this Winter. These shoes were a sign of the first steps along my journey as a fashion blogger, and walk with me through the streets of LA.
LOVE IN THE PRESENT. The mod red earrings are a sign of my family’s present love and inspiration, which will guide me along my journey. Without them, I would never have the opportunity to pursue my dream. The Vintage Liz Leather watch, is a sign of my active presence in Chicago Flea MKT, as a Market Maker, and founding member . This market offers some of the most talented artisans I have ever met. I fell in love with Vintage Liz and her ability to create a unique leather watch. I am inspired by the story behind vintage goods. Additionally, I am inspired by the foundations of this market, and the presence that it has in my life. I can only dream of the future of the company, vision, and dream.
LIFE IN EVERY STITCH. I am particularly most inspired by the aztec-beaded bracelet by “Life in Every Stitch.” I aim to bring life in every stitch of clothing I wear , actively and passively. I purchased this bracelet at Whole Foods Market- constantly dedicated to improving the lives of others. The L.I.F.E Line is handmade by women in Kenya, using local materials and promoting independence. This project has created over 350 jobs for unemployed women in Africa in 1 year, in need of financial assistance or dependence. I am inspired by the company’s ability to bring life to those lost in the death of scarcity – especially impoverished women and their families. I aim to bring “LIFE IN EVERY STITCH” upon my journey through California, to those who are lost and cannot see the light.
